Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora

Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora has been an educator for 28 years in South Texas, Houston and Central Texas. Currently she serves as Superintendent for Tomball Independent School District.

Previously she served the Round Rock Independent School District as Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Administration (2012-2014); and Houston Independent School District as the Assistant Superintendent of School Support Services (2008 to 2012). In Houston ISD she supervised several areas which included Digital Curriculum, Dropout Prevention/Intervention, P-16 College/Career Readiness, Heath and Wellness, Library/Media Services, Counseling Services, Psychological Services, University Interscholastic League (UIL), Grants, Athletics, and Parent Engagement.

Her previous educational leadership experiences included serving as the Area Superintendent for Spring Independent School District. In Spring she supervised various Elementary, Middle and High school principals, Technology, Student Information Management System and Accounting and the Police Departments. She was also the district hearing officer and served on the Superintendent’s Cabinet. Prior to that she served as the Superintendent of Schools in Kingsville Independent School District which is her hometown. Her educational leadership work began in the Bishop Consolidated Independent School District, where she held the administrative titles of Principal and Director of Special Programs. She served the Alice and Kingsville Independent School Districts as a teacher, educational diagnostician and speech/language pathologist.

She currently is an appointed member of the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) Executive Committee and chaired the waivers committee for the Texas High Performing Schools Consortium. She is proud to be the current Vice President for the newly formed TALAS.

She has served on the boards of Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club, United Way and YMCA.

Dr. Salazar-Zamora holds a Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University, two Masters of Education from Texas A&M University at Kingsville in Educational Administration and Special Education as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Texas A&I University. She also holds seven Texas certifications.
